Born into an upper-class family with a doting mother who foots the bill for her indolent lifestyle, 24-year-old combative Amanda (emerging talent Benedetta Porcaroli) searches for boyfriends but only finds misfits who are repelled by her intensity. She longs for connection but has never had a friend of her own... until she discovers a long-lost childhood bond, spurring a mission to convince another recluse that they are still best friends. DIRECTOR'S BIO
Carolina Cavalli was born in Milan, Italy. Her debut feature film, AMANDA, premiered at the 79th Venice Film Festival in September 2022 and internationally at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). She is the winner of the 2018 Premio Solinas Grant for TV Series. In 2018 she was the recipient of the SFFILM/ Rainin Filmmaking Development Grant for the feature film FREMONT (directed by Babak Jalali) which premiered in Sundance 2023.
