Indie Game Bash, an exhilarating indie game fighting tournament, is coming to the iconic Globe Cinema in Calgary for one night only during the Calgary Underground Film Festival.

Get ready for an evening of non-stop action. Join fellow gamers, indie game enthusiasts, and talented developers as participants battle it out on a massive theatre screen, showcasing their skills and tactics in these fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled games. Feel the energy and excitement as the crowd cheers on their favourites, with every arrow, sword strike, and epic showdown. Expect some surprises as you watch or participate in a 32-person, bracketed fighting game tournament featuring the best multiplayer indie games: KungFu Kickball and Nidhogg 2.

Jonah Wallerstein:
Jonah Wallerstein is an independent game developer from Brooklyn, New York. He is the sole member of WhaleFood Games and is also on the board of the indie game dev collective Gumbo. His most recent game, KungFu Kickball released in 2022 on XBox, Switch, PlayStation and Steam and will be available soon as an arcade cabinet.

Sam Eng:
Sam Eng (born and based in New York) is an independent game developer working at the intersection of visual art and game design. Eng is currently working on SKATE STORY (due to be released by Devolver Digital in 2024), a fantasy game which explores the experience of depression. Players of SKATE STORY find themselves embodying a demon who skateboards through the underworld, their body comprised of glass. Born in Manhattan to immigrants from Hong Kong, Eng graduated from the City University of New York-Hunter College in 2016. In 2018, he independently launched his debut game on the Nintendo Switch. In the game, titled Zarvot, inanimate objects gain sentient qualities. It won recognition at the PAX gaming festival and Indiecade East, the international festival for independent gamers.Eng has collaborated with the digital artist Ian Cheng on his celebrated installation works Emissaries and B.O.B. (Bag of Beliefs). He is a founding member of GUMBO NYC, a Brooklyn non-profit development collective for independent game makers.
