CHEECH & CHONG'S LAST MOVIE
United States, 2024: 123 minutes: Canadian Premiere
description
Exploring their five-decade career performing stand-up, making records, and starring in hit films, CHEECH & CHONG’S LAST MOVIE covers their lives, comedy partnership, and lasting influence on pop culture.
Cheech and Chong’s enduring partnership begins like the start of a classic set-up. “What happens when a Chicano kid from LA’s South Central meets a half-Chinese Motown musician at a strip club in Vancouver, Canada?” and ends in one of the funniest, weirdest, and wildest punchlines in comedy history. Bursting onto the scene in the early 1970s, Cheech and Chong brought drugs, sex and rock’n’roll into the oeuvre, transforming them into stand-up-icons, counterculture rock stars and Hollywood legends. The two ultimately reinvented the comic duo – redefining the genre for a new era. Their irreverent stoner humor has translated into sold-out concerts, platinum-selling records, and box-office-smashing films. An unlikely story of friendship, fame, turmoil, and ultimately - redemption.
