PATER NOSTER AND THE MISSION OF LIGHT
United States, 2024: 97 minutes: Canadian Premiere
description
A record store clerk finds her "holy grail" album in a thrift store, leading her to the 1970s commune that released the record.
Max, a young record store clerk and avid collector, stumbles upon a rare vinyl LP from the band “Mission of Light” and is drawn into the world of the 1970s hippie commune that released the music. An invitation to the remnants of the cult and its unholy spawn leads to a harrowing, grisly experience for Max and her friends. A campy slasher horror film that's also a love letter to mom and pop record stores and vinyl collecting, the filmmaking team wrote and recorded an album’s worth of psychedelic head music produced by the fictional band Mission of Light featured in the film. PATER NOSTER AND THE MISSION OF LIGHT is an over-the-top cult splatterfest "shot for the price of a used car."

press for Pater Noster And The Mission Of Light
"A wild punch in the face of a horror film, and I suggest seeing it no matter your taste in movies.... [Director Chris] Bickel’s tongue-in-cheek record store comedy turned blood-soaked escape film pays off in a great way that I haven’t seen in any level of filmmaking in quite some time."- Jasper Project
