description
Georgie follows ex-mobster George Martorano, who was part of a powerful organized crime family led by his father, the infamous Raymond ‘Long John’ Martorano, during the 1970s and 80s.
In his 20s, George followed in his father’s footsteps and started running an illegal drug import operation. After a few years of making millions and living the good life, he was indicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
While in prison, George suffered extreme heartache and loneliness, particularly after losing his father, son, and wife within two years. He was released in 2015, but the impacts of spending 32 years behind bars did permanent damage, particularly to his ability to have healthy, long term relationships with women.
George now lives with his daughter, Francesca, who says she also avoids romantic relationships because of the amount of loss she’s endured. In one of the final scenes, George recites a poem about loneliness to an empty restaurant.
